The Contest starts on September 1, 2021 at 12:00:00 AM Eastern Time (“ET”) and ends on October 5, 2021 at 11:59:59 PM ET (the "Contest Period" or “Promotion Period”). Entries received before September 1, 2021 at 12:00:00 AM ET and after September 30, 2021 at 11:59:59 PM ET will not be accepted and will be deemed invalid. During the Contest Period there are a series of events which start and end on or about the dates and times noted below:

 

 

Note: All dates/times are 2021/Eastern Time. The Sponsor’s or their designee’s clock is the official timekeeper of this Contest. Sponsor in its sole discretion reserves the right to extend the Entry Submission Period if not enough eligible Entries are received at the conclusion of this Entry Submission Period which could limit the Sponsor from awarding all Contest prizes. If the Entry Submission Period is extended; such notice will be published on the Contest website at https://www.westernunion.com/us/en/shareyourstorywu. All dates are subject to change. All decisions of Sponsor are binding and final.

Promotion is open only to individuals who are legal residents of the United States including the District of Columbia (having a valid Tax Identification Number (TIN) or Social Security Number (SSN), and who are 18 years of age or older and present in the U.S. or DC at time of entry (the “Entrant”). Employees of Sponsor, its Agents, Marden-Kane, Inc. (the “Administrator”), their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, or any other suppliers to Western Union (collectively “Releasees”, “Released Entities” and/or “Contest Entities”) and their immediate families (spouse, and parents, children and siblings, and their respective spouses regardless of where they live) and individuals living in the same households, whether related or not, of the above, are not eligible. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. The Promotion is subject to all applicable federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations. If a winner is deemed a minor in his/her state or province of residence, prize will be awarded in the name of the winner’s parent or legal guardian.

: To participate in the Promotion, go to https://www.westernunion.com/us/en/shareyourstorywu (the “Contest Website”) and follow the instructions provided on the online Entry form including:

• Providing the requested Entrant registration information (such as your first and last name, phone number, email address and title of your Short Story).
• Submitting an original Short Story (maximum 160 characters) and uploading a Photo by 11:59:59 PM ET on September 30, 2021. 
• Photos submitted must be no larger than 20MB and in one of the following formats: .jpg, .jpeg, .png.
• Agreeing that you are 18 years of age or older.
• Reading and accepting the Official Rules.
• Confirming possession of all necessary rights and permissions from any person/persons featured in the Photo to use their name and/or likeness prior to submitting same.
• Attesting to following the appropriate Entry Guidelines and Content restrictions in submitting an Entry.
• Opting-in (optional) to receive promotional and marketing materials from the Sponsor.
• Clicking the “Submit” or similar button. 
• In addition to the Entry Form requirements noted above, the following Entry Guidelines and Content restrictions apply to all Submissions: 

Entry Guidelines:

• Stories must be in English or Spanish and not exceed a 160-character limit.
• Stories must be legible and not include Entrant’s name or any personal identification.
• Must be the Entrant’s own, original work, and the sole property of Entrant who owns all rights to the Submission. 
• Submission must not have been previously published in print, broadcast or other media, or displayed publicly outside of this Contest, or submitted in any other contest or promotion of any kind.
• Modifying, enhancing or altering another person’s or entity’s creation does not qualify as an Entrant’s original work.

Content Restrictions:

• Submissions may NOT include content that; 
• with the exception of the Sponsor, promotes/endorses any recognizable company, brand or logo;
• includes persons (adults and or minor children whether or not related to winner or not)of others; for which you have not obtained a signed release.
• violates any third-party property or other rights including; but not limited to, copyrights, trademark, right of publicity or privacy, or any other proprietary rights;
• involves libelous, defamatory, disparaging, tortuous or slanderous materials; 
• portrays gambling; 
• involves explicit or offensive language or content; 
• involves violence or abuse;
• portrays imitations of people or characters from movie/TV shows/video games/comic books/sports figures, etc.; 
• portrays discrimination; 
• promotes illegal and or illicit activities of any kind; 
• Involves tobacco, alcohol or drugs; 
• involves weapons of any kind including, but not limited to, guns, bombs, or knives as a weapon; 
• promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, age or any basis protected by federal, state or local law, ordinance, or regulation; 
•  denigrates, disparages or reflects negatively on the Sponsor, its products, or employees, or on any other person, company, product, or service; 
• is unlawful or contrary to the laws or regulations in the State in which the submission was created; and/or is confidential; and,

Promotes and/or endorses a political agenda regardless of the political affiliation.

If a submission includes any of the prohibited content listed above, the Entry will be disqualified. The above list is not intended to be exhaustive; Sponsor may disqualify an Entry that they determine has violated the spirit of the Contest or breached a representation or warranty at any time. Entries that do not comply with the Official Rules, including, without limitation, the above Guidelines and Restrictions, including any Entry that refers, depicts or in any way reflects negatively upon the Sponsor, the Brand, the Contest or any other person or entity may be disqualified. Entries not complying with the Official Rules may be withdrawn without notice from the Contest at any time at the sole discretion of the Sponsor and/or Administrator.

Only one (1) Entry per person/email address is permitted throughout the Entry Submission Period. Subsequent attempts made by the same individual to submit multiple entries by using multiple or false contact information or otherwise, may be disqualified. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned to Entrant. Entries not submitted in accordance with the instructions provided on the Contest Website and in these Official Rules will be void and will not be considered in the Contest. No correspondence will be acknowledged or entered into; requests for confirmation of receipt of entries will not be acknowledged. By submitting an Entry, Entrants consent to having Entry information shared with the Sponsor and the Administrator.

All Entries received during the Entry Submission Period will be reviewed for compliance by Sponsor or its designee to ensure compliance with the Official Rules and the Entry Guidelines and Content Requirements as detailed above. The approval process may take up to 72 hours (the time between completed Submission upload and actual publishing to the Contest Website). Only approved Entries will be posted on the Contest Website for public voting. After an Entry has been successfully submitted (as described above) the Entrant will receive an automatic online confirmation along with a 50% promo code which can be redeemed on their next qualifying WU Money Transfer Fee on our app, WU.com or at select Agent locations, excludes redemptions at Walmart and limited to agent system availability. Restrictions may apply. Limit of one (1) discount code, per person throughout the Contest Period.

The Sponsor’s Customer Service team will endeavor to respond to all requests promptly. Please review the judging criteria on which Entries will be voted on, prior to creating your Entry. The judging criteria may be found in section 6 below.

By entering the Contest, each Entrant represents and warrants that Entrant has obtained all of the necessary rights, licenses, and permissions from any person who may have helped or participated in the creation of the Entry and the submission does not includes any restricted content as defined above, or other material that would violate applicable law.

BY SUBMITTING AN ENTRY, EACH ENTRANT FURTHER WARRANTS AND REPRESENTS THAT HIS/HER ENTRY COMPLIES WITH ALL CONDITIONS STATED IN THESE OFFICIAL RULES AND AGREES THAT THE RELEASED ENTITIES WILL BEAR NO LEGAL LIABILITY TO THIRD PARTIES REGARDING THE USE OF THE ENTRY BY THE RELEASED ENTITIES, AND THAT THE RELEASED ENTITIES SHALL BE INDEMNIFIED AND HELD HARMLESS BY ENTRANT IN THE EVENT IT IS SUBSEQUENTLY DISCOVERED THAT THE ENTRANT HAS NOT FULLY COMPLIED WITH ANY OF THE OFFICIAL RULES.

Upon submission and review by the Sponsor or their designee, all qualified Submissions will be featured on the Contest Website https://www.westernunion.com/us/en/shareyourstorywu for public voting through 11:59:59 PM ET on October 4, 2021. Voting is open to all legal residents of the 50 U.S. & DC who are at least 18 years of age or older at the time of voting. Voters will be required to provide their email address to register to vote. Voters will have the opportunity to critically evaluate Entries submitted and vote at the Contest Website for the Entry they believe best exemplifies the following criteria:

• Inspirational Story (33.3%)
• Community Spirit (33.3%)

Limit one (1) vote per person/email address, per day*. Sponsor reserves the right to nullify any votes made through use of robotic, macro, automatic, programmed, proxy votes or like voting methods and to disqualify from voting the responsible individual, in Sponsor's sole discretion. Any attempt by any voter to vote more than the number of times authorized herein using multiple/different names, email addresses, identities, and/or any other fraudulent mechanism or method, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, shall give Sponsor the right to void those votes and disqualify that voter. Entrants and their family/friends are prohibited from obtaining votes by any inappropriate means, including, but not limited to, offering prizes or other inducements to members of public, paying a third-party service to vote for or obtain votes for a particular Entry, collaborating with other individuals or groups to trade votes, or otherwise acting in contravention of these Official Rules, as determined by Sponsor, in its sole discretion, and Sponsor reserves the right to nullify any such votes, and to disqualify the responsible Entrant and his/her Entry from the Contest. *For the purpose of this Promotion, a day is defined as the calendar day beginning at 12:00:00 AM ET and ending the same day at 11:59:59 PM ET.

At the end of the Voting Period, the one hundred (100) Entries with the highest number of votes from all eligible entries received will be deemed potential Contest winners (“Potential Winners”), subject to verification of eligibility and compliance by the Sponsor or its designee. IN THE EVENT OF A TIE, THE TIED ENTRIES WILL BE JUDGED BY A PANEL OF QUALIFIED JUDGES AS DETERMINED BY THE SPONSOR USING THE ABOVE JUDGING CRITERIA.

A total of one-hundred (100) Amazon E-gift card prizes (“Prize” or “Prizes”) totaling $10,000 USD are available to be won as detailed in the Prize chart below. Prizes will only be awarded upon winner verification and final approval of Sponsor and its designee. Gift Cards are subject to the Terms and Conditions printed thereon and/or on issuers corresponding website. Restrictions may apply. Prizes cannot be transferred for value or redeemed for cash and no substitutions allowed except at the discretion of the Sponsor. All taxes on a prize won, and other expenses related to accepting the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner or parent/legal guardian if winner is a minor in his/her jurisdiction of residence. At Sponsor’s sole discretion, Prize may vary to what has been advertised, pictured, etc. All details of the prize not specified herein shall be determined solely by Sponsor.

The Potential Winners will be notified by the Administrator via e-mail ([email protected]) on or about October 8, 2021. This email will request that each Potential Winner follow the instructions provided to claim their prize within 14 days of receipt of the Administrator’s notification email. Information required will include (but not limited to): First and Last Name, Email address, Phone number and certifying that they are 18 years of age or older and have read the Official Rules. Once the claim process is complete the winner will automatically receive a gift card link and instructions on how to access and activate their Gift Card. If a Potential Winner cannot be reached or does not respond within specified time frame, is found to be ineligible, or declines to accept the prize, the Potential Winner may be disqualified in Sponsor’s sole discretion, and in such case, Sponsor may select the next highest score received from the remaining eligible entries (#101 and on) as needed until all 100 prizes have been claimed. Sponsor and Administrator will make every attempt possible to award all 100 prizes offered in this Contest as long as there are sufficient number of eligible entries. The Potential Grand Prize Winner may also be required to complete, sign, and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability release and, a publicity release. The completed document must be returned to the Administrator by the date stated in the Potential Winner notification. Sponsor is not responsible for loss of the prize after it has been delivered to the confirmed winner. Sponsor makes no warranties, and hereby disclaims any and all warranties, expressed or implied, concerning any part of the prize furnished by third parties in connection with the Contest.

By participating in this Contest, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and instructions and by all decisions of the Sponsor and Administrator, which are final and legally binding in all matters relating to this Promotion. By participating, Entrants and Contest Winners agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless the Released Entities from and against any claims, damages, or liability due to any damages, or losses or injuries to any person (including death) or property of any kind resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use, misuse or nonuse of prize (if applicable) or participation in this Promotion. Entrants further agree not to pursue any right, claim or action against the Released Entities in connection with their participation in this Promotion. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of an entrant, the authorized account holder of the email address used to enter will be deemed to be the entrant. An "authorized account holder" of an email address is the natural person in whose name the email address has been issued by the Internet Access provider for that email. Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Promotion or Contest Website; violates the Official Rules; or acts in a disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE PROMOTION IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE; SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. Released Entities are not responsible for technical, hardware or software malfunctions, telephone failures of any kind. In addition to the tax liability disclosures in these Rules, winners are subject to abide by the income reporting and, if applicable, the payment of any taxes due per the laws, rules and regulations of the winner’s country of residence.

Released Entities are not liable for lost, late, stolen, illegible, entries or for garbled or delayed computer transmissions even if the foregoing limits an entrant’s ability to participate in the Contest in any way or to claim a prize; technical, hardware or software failures of any kind; lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, inaccurate, incomplete, garbled or delayed electronic communications whether caused by the sender or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Promotion which may limit the ability of an individual to participate in or accept a prize in the Promotion, or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the Entries in this Promotion.

Proof of submitting entries and casting votes will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by the Sponsor. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned. The Sponsor reserves the right to prohibit the participation of an individual if fraud or tampering is suspected or if the individual fails to comply with any requirement of participation as stated herein or with any provision in these Official Rules. Released Entities are not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Contest or in the announcement of the prize winners. Released Entities are not responsible for damages to user’s system occasioned by participating in the Promotion or downloading any information to participate in the Promotion.

If, for any reason, the Contest is not able to run through completion for reasons which may include, without limitation, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which may corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, including any other factors beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control such as a Force Majeure (e.g., war, riots, terrorism, civil unrest, strikes, blackouts, supply shortages, order of governmental authority,) an “act of God” (e.g., natural disasters, weather, etc.) or an unforeseeable health event (e.g. pandemic or epidemic), then the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest in whole or in part, without further liability to the Entrants or third parties. In the event this Contest is cancelled prior to the stated end date, a notice will be posted at https://www.westernunion.com/us/en/shareyourstorywu; and Sponsor reserves the right to award prizes from among all eligible non-suspect Entries received prior to the time of the action or event warranting such cancellation. With regard to this Contest, the Sponsor will only contact those Entrants deemed as potential winners for purposes of winner verification and awarding of the prizes offered.

SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. If any provision of these Official Rules is invalid under the law, rules or regulations of a particular jurisdiction, it will only apply to the extent permitted. 

Unless prohibited by law, you waive any rights of privacy, rights of publicity, intellectual property rights, and other rights that may preclude Sponsor from using or disclosing all or any part of your Entry in any manner and for any purpose. By submitting an Entry, you further release Sponsor from any future claims arising out of any use or disclosure of your Entry consistent with these Official Rules. All eligible Entries will be screened and may be published on the Internet or in other media at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Without limitation to the foregoing, Sponsor may post any and all submissions on the Contest Website or its social media properties during and following the Contest Period. The use or publication of an Entrant’s name or information in connection with the Contest does not signify that the Entrant is a Contest Winner or not. By submitting an Entry, you acknowledge and agree that you will not now or in the future be paid or compensated in any way for your Entry or for granting the Sponsor any of the rights set out in these Official Rules, whether you are chosen as a Contest Winner or not. You further agree that Sponsor is not obligated to make use of any of the rights granted in these Official Rules or to use any of submissions in any way. Entrants' personal details may be used by Sponsor in accordance with their privacy policy located at https://www.westernunion.com/content/wucom/global/en/privacy-statement.html.

By entering this Promotion, entrants agree that 1) Any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Promotion or the prize shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; 2) Any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, and shall not include any punitive, consequential or other damages, including costs associated with entering the Promotion but in no event include attorneys' fees; and 3) Under no circumstances will any entrant be permitted to obtain any award for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental or consequential damages and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. This Contest and these Official Rules shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of Colorado without regard to its principles of conflicts of law. Jurisdiction and venue shall be solely within the State of Colorado. By entering and participating in the Promotion, Entrants hereby expressly agree and accept that for all that is related to the interpretation, performance and enforcement of these Official Rules, each of them expressly submit themselves to the laws of the United States of America and the State of Colorado, expressly waiving to any other jurisdiction that could correspond to them by virtue of their present or future domicile or by virtue of any other cause. By participating, Entrants agree that any and all disputes arising out of or relating in any way to this Contest shall be resolved individually, and without resort to class action, exclusively by a state or federal court located in the state of Colorado. Should there be a conflict between the laws of the State of Colorado and any other laws, the conflict will be resolved in favor of the laws of the State of Colorado
